These powers are having their root in Tripura Sundari and are all contained in her form.


## The Three States and the Three Worlds:

In the Vedic tradition, everything is categorized into threes: the wakeful state, the dream state, and the deep sleep state, the three divinities – Brahma, Vishnu and Siva, the three In understanding the ancient teachings, you’ll come across the concept of Gunas and Lokas. Gunas are qualities known as Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. Lokas refer to three regions, namely Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Svah. Slaying all these triads and encompassing them as well, Tripura Sundari is known as the “Para Dreshika”, the ultimate witness.

Lalita Tripura Sundari is shown to be seated in the Sadashiva form thus representing the highest form of consciousness. At her lower end we have the four gods Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and Maheshwara itself in different gross forms. In the language of Rasa and Bhava it is said of Lalita the physical form she possesses is playful (Lalita) and joyful reflecting the joyous play (Lila) of the cosmos. From her link with Shiva as ‘Kameshwari’, one is able to understand the countenance of divine lust. Shiva – the ultimate reality – wanted to taste the ananda or bliss which set the process of creation of universe in motion and Lalita is the form of that Shakti, the energy now manifest.

Lalita is painted in red, which is the first color reflected when white light is analysed with the help of a prism. This red is the first aspect of divine energy from Shiva, the unmanifest state. It symbolises the advent of reason, the first of the miracles.

Lalita is holding different symbolic items in her hands:

  1. “Pasha (Rope):” Is accumulated, committal, and sustaining; it binds us to the world.

 2. “Ankush (Goad):The following sign: “ Symbolizes aversion or repulsion another type of bond within the great chain.

 3. “Five Arrows:”, symbolize five tools of Maya: Kala = time, Vidya = knowledge, Raga = attachment, Niyati = destiny, Kala = death.

 4. “Sugarcane Bow:” It symbolises the appetites that entice and hold us to the world.


## Understanding Desire and Its Role in Worship:

In the Sri Vidya tradition, desire does not seem to be something to be denied. Rather, it is accepted and understood as part of a spiritual journey. The Sri Chakra, the sacred geometric symbol used in its worship, can be accessed from the outside to bring about liberation, and from the inside to the outside to satisfy worldly desires.
